June is ALS Awareness Month, a time to unite and make an extraordinary impact. Today, I’m excited to share an opportunity for you to join in that impact.

My name is Chris Pon, and my family’s journey with ALS began in December 2021 when my father was told he had ALS. The disease progressed rapidly over the next eight months, and soon, Dad passed away, leaving an indelible mark on our lives.

You, too, can leave a lasting mark on the lives of people living with ALS by becoming a monthly donor today.

My father was an incredible man. At the center of his life was his family. He relished in his “home” time, listened and gave great advice. Dad cherished every moment that he spent with us. And now, we cherish and honour our memory of him. One of my fondest memories is of my dad and his car “Big Red,” the first car my parents bought in 1966. He loved to take us out and cruise around with the Beach Boys playing on the stereo. My sister and I called that car our older sibling and think of the Beach Boys as the soundtrack of our childhood.

Dad’s strength and determination in facing ALS continues to inspire me, and I hope our story will inspire you to be united with me in your support by becoming a monthly donor today.

For ALS Awareness Month, the ALS Society of Canada has set a goal to welcome 30 new online monthly donors. These donations are critical in helping us continue to fund breakthroughs in ALS research right now. Can you help us reach that goal before the end of June?

To further the impact of your gift, a generous board member from ALS Canada will match the first 30 online monthly donations received during ALS Awareness Month for three months. If you sign-up to donate monthly right now, it means you will have double the impact, reaching more families and funding more crucial programs.

But that’s not all! If you make a monthly gift right now, you will receive a free special “United in ALS” tote bag!

Donating monthly is a way for me to regularly honour my dad’s legacy. I am proud to be a part of such a meaningful community. Everyone at ALS Canada deeply appreciates you being part of our community too, united in our determination to find the next big breakthrough. Your generosity brings hope and support to people and families living with ALS. Use this link to make your monthly donation today.

With gratitude,

Chris Pon
