About ALS Canada support groups

ALS Canada Support Groups provide an environment of respect, open communication, and safety where people affected by ALS can come together and share experiences and information to mutually support one another.

ALS Canada Support Groups are hosted monthly, online via Zoom and are available to ALS Canada registered clients, their friends, and family, including:

Open to all

For those affected by ALS, including people living with ALS, family members, caregivers, and friends.

Caregiver

For caregivers and family members of a person diagnosed with ALS.

Client only

Available to ALS Canada clients, i.e., people diagnosed with ALS.

ALS Canada Support Groups are available to ALS Canada registered clients and their families and caregivers. ALS Canada Support Groups are for people currently living with ALS and their support circles. If you need bereavement support, please contact your Community Lead or email communityservices@als.ca.

If you are interested in joining a support group

Look at the ALS Canada Support Group schedule and select the group you want to attend.

Contact your Community Lead or submit an inquiry about joining the ALS Canada Support Group to communityservices@als.ca.

You will be contacted to schedule an intake meeting.

A support group facilitator will meet with you to discuss your needs, provide more information on our support groups, and assess if our support groups are the right fit for you.

It is important to note that while support groups can be very helpful for some people, they can be overwhelming and even distressing to others. This is why an intake meeting is required prior to joining an ALS Canada support group.
