Donate equipment in Ontario

ALS Canada accepts donations of new or gently used assistive equipment based on the type and age of equipment. Equipment for donation must be in the province of Ontario.

Please note, we do not accept items that are not part of the ALS Canada Equipment Loan Program. This includes stairlifts, feeding tubes and supplies, medication, bedding and some mobility items such as canes and crutches. We are also unable to accept any items that are 5 years or older.

The benefits of donating equipment

ALS Canada receives no core government funding to support our mission work. The generosity and commitment of thousands of donors and fundraisers make our work possible. There are many benefits of donating equipment:

  • Equipment loans: Donated items that are a part of the ALS Canada Equipment Program are provided free of charge to people living with ALS.
  • Reduce waste: Reusing gently used equipment minimizes the need for new resources and decreases the environmental impact of manufacturing new equipment
  • Tax receipt: All donations of medical equipment and assistive devices are eligible for a tax receipt.
  • Positive impact: Donated equipment can significantly improve the quality of life for individuals living with ALS.

The impact of your donation

Over time, someone living with ALS will need different types of equipment as the disease progresses and they lose mobility and communication abilities. Donated equipment can have a significant positive impact on people living with ALS and their families in many ways:

Enhanced quality of life
Increased independence and autonomy
Increased empowerment and dignity

Donated equipment, such as hospital beds, wheelchairs, and lift systems, can improve the well-being of people living with ALS. By facilitating mobility, personal care, and communication, equipment can enhance the ability of people living with ALS to complete essential daily activities and tasks with confidence for a more fulfilling and independent life.

How to donate equipment

Complete the contact form and a member of the ALS Canada Equipment Team will review your submission.

Due to the overwhelming number of inquiries submitted to us, we are currently prioritizing items of greatest need to our community and are only able to respond to short-listed submissions.

If you do not hear back from ALS Canada, please accept this as confirmation that while we truly appreciate your submission, we are unable to accept your donation at this time based on community needs and inventory.

If the item you wish to donate is not listed in the form, then unfortunately we cannot accept it as we do not stock or supply this item as part of our equipment loan program. We appreciate your understanding on this matter.

If you have any questions please call us at 1-800-267-4257.
