In Loving Memory

Toronto, ON, Ontario

Date of loss: December 7, 2021

My dad fought ALS brilliantly for 8 short months. I will continue to be a warrior in the fight against ALS in his memory. United, we must end ALS!

My dad was diagnosed two short years into his retirement. His goal was to begin enjoying life -- travelling with my mom, working on his muscle car ("big red"), spending time with his grandkids, doing what he wanted to, however ALS cut all of this short. When he was told he had ALS, it was like a firestorm -- what did it mean, what will happen him, who do we speak to...who will take care of my mom, and everything else, knowing he was now terminal. Although we were overwhelmed, ALS Canada helped us navigate the healthcare system and provide much needed equipment that assisted him to his final days. Through those 8 months I was able to relive the 50+ years I had with my dad, as I quickly I changed from son to caregiver. For the remainder of my time on earth, I am dedicated to raise funds to invest in ALS research, advocacy and services. We need to ensure ALS is halted, so people won't lose loved ones to a disease that does not discriminate and progresses too quickly. I'll always try to remember my dad before ALS and continue to do my best as we work towards a cure to end ALS. Miss you dad! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQcAHF16Jpg
