Carolina obtained a Bachelor of Science with an Honours Specialization in Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences from Western University in 2021. She further advanced her education by obtaining a certificate in Biomedical Communication and Visualization from the University of British Columbia. With experience in laboratory work and knowledge translation, she has been working as Research Specialist at ALS Society of Canada since 2021. At ALS Canada, Carolina has supported the Research Grant Program and contributed to multiple research efforts making a meaningful impact on the ALS community. Carolina remains dedicated to her passion for accessible and timely scientific and medical communication by driving multiple ALS Canada initiatives, empowering people affected by ALS to make informed decisions, and working towards recognition of ALS research in Canada.

Dr. Taylor completed a PhD in ALS research at McGill in 2006, followed by two postdoctoral fellowships at EPFL, Lausanne, and University of Toronto. He joined ALS Canada in 2012 and for over a decade his work has included; managing ALS Canada’s national and global research portfolios, guiding the organization’s research strategy, facilitating collaboration between Canadian and international ALS researchers, advocating with government for the needs of Canadians living with ALS, and engaging with industry to highlight Canada as a top destination for clinical development. His role has also provided an opportunity to be involved in, or leading numerous panels, committees, and meetings of global ALS/MND significance, with impact that will ultimately accelerate a better day, sooner, for Canadians living with ALS. Passionate about ALS research, Dave has delivered hundreds of presentations across Canada and internationally, participated in countless media interviews and is incredibly driven to engage in mutually beneficial opportunities for knowledge exchange.

Susana received her Master of Science from the University of Toronto, along with a Health Services Management Certificate from Toronto Metropolitan University. Her early experiences in research and health program management shaped a strong commitment to keeping people at the center of care, while building an understanding of how to improve healthcare systems to better serve individuals and their communities.

At the core of Susana’s purpose is a focus on bringing a sense of humanity and empathy into research and healthcare, an approach she seeks to carry through in everything she touches. She joined ALS Canada in 2026, supporting the research team and overseeing key initiatives across the Canadian ALS Research Network (CALS), research community engagement, select grant program functions, and national research meetings. Susana combines her passion for research and discovery with a commitment to ensuring that people living with ALS are meaningfully included in the research conversation and broader research strategy.
