Military veterans face an increased risk of developing ALS, underscoring how much more we need to understand about the disease and the need to accelerate progress toward effective treatments. ALS Canada, alongside the ALS community across Canada, continues to advocate for greater federal investment in ALS research, including $50 million for the Canadian Collaboration to Cure ALS. By sharing their lived experience, ALS Community Ambassadors like Robert Gibson help bring a personal perspective to these advocacy efforts and demonstrate why greater action on ALS is urgently needed.
