ALS Canada is making ALS-specific training and resources more accessible across Canada, helping ensure people living with ALS and their caregivers feel supported from diagnosis through to end-of-life care. ALS is a complex disease that affects each person differently, making informed and responsive care essential.

More than 4,000 Canadians are living with ALS, and their care doesn’t happen in one place. It happens in hospitals, clinics, and in homes. Made possible through funding from the JBS Foundation, the ALS Canada Healthcare Professionals Hub connects healthcare professionals with ALS-specific education, practical resources, and expertise to support care across a range of professions and settings.

“A person living with ALS has complex and changing care needs, and they need healthcare professionals who are equipped to support them,” said Kim Barry, Vice-President of Community Services at ALS Canada. “Healthcare professionals want to provide the highest standard of care, but without opportunities to build disease-specific knowledge, it can be incredibly difficult to feel confident you’re meeting those needs. The ALS Canada Healthcare Professionals Hub helps ensure they have the knowledge and tools to be ready when someone with ALS comes into their care.”

As part of the launch, ALS Canada hosted a full-day virtual training session on November 4, bringing professionals together from across Canada to explore ALS care in greater depth, share experiences, and discuss questions and challenges they may encounter.

The Hub is available to healthcare professionals across Canada.
